Resort Description for Javea

The seaside town of Javea proves that rustic and rugged are also beautiful.  The cliffs overlooking the Mediterranean are wild and breath-taking, nature at its purest.

Javea lies between Valencia and Alicante, roughly a four hour’s drive from Madrid.  It’s a rugged old sea town, with 25 kilometers of beaches and weathered stone lighthouses.  Sailboats abound in the Mediterranean, framed by sweeping cliffs and jutting outcroppings of rock.  The history of Javea dates back nearly as long as human history itself.  Archaeological findings include flints and hand axes from 30,000 years ago.  The cave of the Barranc del Migdia, on the side of the Montgo mountain, is an important historical site due to paintings found there in 1989.  The cave is considered to be a burial site, giving insights into the beliefs of ancient peoples.Javea is composed of three main areas: Javea Old Town, Javea Port, and the Beach area.

There are apartments for sale in all areas of Javea, so let’s explore each of them and see what makes them unique. Javea’s old town is a preserved, time-tested grid of lovely stone buildings.  Here you will find ghostly remainders of walls erected as protection against pirates.  Restaurants in this area range from merely lovely to almost cathedral-like in their splendor.  You can navigate the delights on Moorish style streets too narrow for cars. Javea Port is a lively commercial part of town.  It does have a beach, La Grava, and the Promenade for shopping.

Javea Port is home to the annual Fiesta de Moros y Cristianos, a four-night battle reenactment with spectacular costumes and loud gun fire.  Also in the port is the fisherman’s church and the boats always coming in that are fun to watch. In the beach area, Arenal Beach is one of the most desirable spots.  Those looking for property for sale in Javea are often lured by all that there is to do at Arenal.  It’s an elegant, peaceful locale for walking, sailboarding, jet skiing: you name it.  The gorgeous Mediterranean water gives the beach the highest possible rating of a blue-flag beach.
